Animal Morph
Animal Morph Photography
This is by far one of the coolest ideas! Being able to use Photoshop to merge animals together in quirky and interesting ways is phenomenal. Overall I loved doing this task, it was so much fun to create animal morphs. I found it difficult to adjust and replicate textures correctly in Photoshop without the animal looking Photoshopped, fur and feathers were extremely difficult.
I utilised tools such as
- Clone Stamp
- Colour adjustments
- Quick Selection
- Paint Tool
- Smudge Tool
I created this by cutting and placing the head/element onto another animal (in Photoshop)
Then sizing the head correctly to suit the body. I first found it easier to adjust the colour correctly first (image - adjustments - colour balance or Hue/saturation).
Making use of the eraser, paint, clone stamp, smudge and blur tools clean up the joint between the two animals to create an animal morph.

This is by far my favourite image, I love the blend of fur between the lion and the monkey. The colour palette was fairly similar anyway so it worked better to get the same look. Composition wise, I feel this piece has a nice rule of thirds action, where the eye is the initial focal point. I love the blurred greenery background, I made the eyes stand out in more green to match this colour.
